Our customers accomplish such amazing things and we are thrilled to be a part of their journeys – marathons, triathlons, dance competitions, cheerleaders, cycling, yoga, pilates, soccer, softball…. our sparkly gals all have a different story to tell.  I wanted the name to capture the very moment on that journey when someone realizes “I’ve got this” after setting a goal.  It is all about working hard, giving it everything and discovering how very strong we are within.

I am a strong believer that any extra spice to your workout look can get you motivated, do you find your customers would agree?

Enter the “Sparkly” part of our name! I wanted something fashionable to put some kick into my workouts.  I love to shop and I love to accessorize – unfortunately I couldn’t find anything fashionable to use with my running gear.  I wanted something functional that did not slip (ugh!) or give me a headband headache (ouch!) but looked good (yay!)!  A gal can never have enough sparkle so I thought it would be fun to add some fashion flair to our our sports and fitness routines.  Feeling fabulous definitely equals a much more motivated workout!  Our headbands are fashionable and functional.  You don’t have to compromise – they look great…and best of all they don’t slip and don’t cause a headache.

These headbands are perfect for an everyday look too!  Which color is your favorite?

Absolutely – they are perfect for everyday. We love hearing from our customers that they are wearing these for their workouts AND in their everyday lives.  We all have those bad hair days and these bands make pulled back hair look great.  I would have to say black and silver are my “go to” colors.  I wear these colors to my office with suits, I wear on the weekends with jeans, work dresses to black tie affairs.  It is also fun to throw on a bright color band to mix things up – especially a neutral color outfit or uniform.

One of my favorite trends right now is pastel jeans. Although there are a lot of rumors on mags and blogs that curvy ladies can’t wear this trendy look, I think they can. It’s all in how you style it. In the above picture, I show you how you can wear this look, three ways. I selected a light pink pair of jeans in a comfortable and versatile style that can be dressed up or down, and easily worn on various outings and occasions. I know I can’t be the only one who gets incredibly frustrated when shopping for that perfect pair of jeans. I’ve heard a different complaint from every one of my friends about how different their body type is and how it’s impossible to find a pair of jeans that fits without needing to be tailored. In my case, I have small calves, bigger thighs, and was blessed with a little extra in the butt department. I’m not complaining, necessarily, but I do find it difficult to find jeans that hug my curves without gaping at my waist or suffocating me to the point of popping a button or breaking a zipper. Recently, though, I found out about Levi’s new Curve ID jeans. Let me just say that these might just change your life. Basically, these jeans are designed for women like me (and you!) who have real bodies and real curves. The jeans are separated into 3 different categories based on body types- slight curve, demi curve, and bold. If you don’t know which category you fit into, you can just take the quiz that is available on the Levi’s website. Once you find your fit, then you can pick from a wide variety of colors and styles. If you aren’t already sold, just take a look at the prices. You can score yourself a pair for as low as $59.50.

As a college student, the one thing I’ve found is that no matter how cute I want to look, I never have the time or energy to put much effort into what I wear on a daily basis. Going to school in Boston, this has become a bit of an issue. All around me, I see girls in elaborate outfits looking like they just stepped out of a street style blog, while I’m in leggings, a basic sweater, and UGGs. Until recently, I’ve found it impossible to balance looking good with being comfortable in what I’m wearing. It’s easy to associate simple with sloppy, which is exactly why I’m thanking my lucky stars that I found the T-shirts made by Calypso St. Barth. I especially love the ‘Joy’ tee, which is super soft, hangs loose on the body, but has shoulder cutouts that add just a dash of sexiness. If you’re one of those girls that can wake up in the morning with picture perfect straight-from-the-beach waves that rival Blake Lively at her best, read no further. For the rest of you, I totally understand why you hate people like the ones I just described. Trust me, I am not one of them. If I get out of the shower and let my hair air dry, I end up with a frizzy, tangled mess. Even when I put every effort into making my hair look perfect, all I can do is add a couple of bobby pins in an attempt to give my straightened hair some volume. I tried to get adventurous for my junior prom, but all I got was a head full of really embarrassing Shirley Temple curls. After that traumatizing experience, I accepted the fact that I am stuck with the straight hair that I’ve got. However, when I visited my good friend down at UCF, she introduced me to what she calls “the miracle wand”. It may sound questionable, but I swear that’s exactly what it is. Conair has finally made model waves accessible to those of us with limp locks and shallow pockets. For just $40, or even less at discount beauty stores, you can purchase this new cult favorite. All you have to do is split your hair into 1-inch sections, press the ON button, wrap those babies around the expertly shaped iron and hold for 10 seconds. The result? Perfect hair, every single time.

Betsey Johnson ‘Layer Cake’ bathing suit top

I’ve never been the type of girl who likes to spend a lot of money on bathing suits. In all honesty, I’ve never really been the type of girl who likes to wear bathing suits, period. However, during the summer, it’s pretty much impossible to avoid unless you want to sit at home while your friends and family frolic on the beach and play in the pool (trust me, you don’t want to be that girl). So, when I see a piece of swimwear that I know right away will flatter my body, and the body of many, many others, I feel it’s my duty to spread the word. This bikini top from Betsey Johnson is cut perfectly and is incredibly versatile. It comes in 3 colors- blue (as pictured), green, and red. This top will undoubtedly enhance your décolleté and I know that none of you are going to complain about that… I know I won’t. In addition to being insanely cute, it is also pretty practical. You can wear it with or without the straps, and there’s no need to buy bottoms- just pair it with any that you already have in a solid color. If you can stomach the steep price tag, I say go for it, and you won’t be disappointed.

Kate Spade ‘pop rocks’ ring

As I said in my last post, working at a jewelry store at home has made me really come to appreciate the appeal of quality accessories. I am particularly drawn to rings, which will always fit, even as the rest of your body changes. They also draw attention to your hands, which can be awesome if you want to show off your new manicure. I’ve also found that rings tend to spark up many conversations, whether it’s with someone who truly admires it, or a certain (cough, special) someone who just wants an excuse to talk to you. Even when your outfit is super casual, a ring can add a pop of personality and can really change the way you look and feel about what you are wearing. I especially love this ‘pop rocks’ ring made by Kate Spade for a few different reasons. First, I’m really digging the super high quality of the 14K gold, which won’t turn your finger green like a lot of cheaper materials. Second, it’s small enough to be worn every day, but unique enough to make a statement. The small pave crystals nestled amongst the golden geometric ‘rocks’ gives it the wearability of everyday jewelry, since it can be worn with other gold, silver, or diamond pieces.
