Have you heard of Shop Tart? Well if you haven’t it’s definitely a website you have bookmark. The founder Anne Wolfe Postic covers everything from charity events, food and fashion mainly within the South Carolina district. Continue reading to learn more!
What do you think makes Shop Tart such a huge success?
Ha! I’m just flattered to see it referred to as a huge success. I think I felt like it was a success when people I didn’t know started approaching me in public and asking if I was the Shop Tart. I absolutely love hearing when someone has scored a deal or tried and enjoyed something new after reading about it on the Shop Tart. It’s also great to hear from boutique or restaurant owners when they’ve seen new business resulting from the Shop Tart.
Do you feel that the fashion community within South Carolina has grown with the help of your blog?
I hope so! I like seeing people express their personal style. Individuality is key. I love fashion-themed events and designer visits in Columbia. The more people attend, the more likely we are to have those in the future. I love when people email me questions about style. I think raising the profile of fashion in a town helps people get more excited about everything, from food and wine to the arts and charity events. The fashion scene in South Carolina is growing fast and I hope I’m part of it.
Who is your favorite designer and why?
Oooh! Tough question. Phillip Lim is a real anchor for me, his clothes fit me really well and suit my style. Each season is different, though I loved Milly and Yigal Azrouel this summer, as well as light dresses by Hoss Intropia. Christian Louboutin will always be my often unattainable love. I adore all kinds of shoes, from Nanette Lepore to Pour la Victoire. Ooh! And Loeffler Randall, for shoes and clothes. Jodi Arnold’s Mint collection has been really great and Liquid rocks. I also get really excited about the options that local designers like AnnaBelle LaRoque offer. So…I guess I don’t have a favorite, but I do tend to focus on designers I can (sometimes) afford. As much as I adore Marc Jacobs, that probably isn’t happening for me any time soon. I also like to go to smaller shops that aren’t designer-focused, like Bohemian in Columbia. They have a great variety at lower prices than you might expect. Choosing a favorite is impossible, because I love to mix and match. Let’s just say Marc Jacobs, just in case he wants to send me free clothes. Or Erdem – they make beautiful, timeless creations I can’t afford.
Would you say your blog is more than just a fashion blog?
Absolutely. I like to talk fashion but I also cover everything that goes with it, from beauty and fitness to restaurants and charity events. Fashion is about what you wear while you’re living a fun life, not just sitting around waiting to be pretty.
What’s next for Shop Tart?
I’d like to keep doing more of the same. My business is growing, I recently hired a part-time employee who will really help me be able to cover more things around town and also give me a fresh style perspective. I also have an account executive who has taken over much of the advertising. That makes it even easier to separate editorial content from paid sponsorship. I’d also like to connect with more local bloggers in different fields. I have a regular urban gardening columnist and have had guest posts about local politics and sports. I’d love to develop those more. I love what I do – and I hope to keep doing it!
Thanks for interviewing me!
