<p>Below you will find some of my suggested meeting tips to make sure  you land your next client or rock that presentation.</p>
<p><em>Be on time: </em>This goes without saying, if for whatever reason you are late make sure to call, text or email.</p>
<p><em>Dress the part</em>: It&#8217;s better to be over dressed than underdressed.</p>
<p><em>Be PREPARED!</em>: Know your facts and data, if it&#8217;s too much to retain you can always have note cards to refer to. You also want to make sure all your equipment is fully charged and/or you are strapped with a back up battery and charger.</p>
<p><em>Communication Is Key</em>: Make sure all parties are involved in the follow-up corespondance after the event.  Don&#8217;t wait to too long to return emails and/or phone calls even if it&#8217;s a brief.</p>

Compromise is key when dealing with a client that might not see eye to eye with you.  In some cases you just might not be a good fit for one another but in other situations you may just need to broaden your clients perspective on a particular situation.</p>
<p>For a smoother relationship a few key things to keep in mind when you start working with a new client.</p>
<p>1. What are your clients needs? By being aware of your clients needs you are off to good start.  Miscommunication can be a key to disaster so bare in mind why your client has sought out your services and what your game plan is.</p>
<p>2. What is the big picture? What are the goals your client hopes to achieve?  It&#8217;s important that you are both clear on this in order to obtain the best results possible.  However sometimes you can introduce new ideas and concepts that may have never occurred to your client.</p>
<p>3. Communication is key!: It&#8217;s ideal to keep your client abreast of all new developments as well as perspective ones too.  This will reassure them that progress is being made and nothing has slipped through the cracks.  Try holding weekly meetings or send out email updates.</p>

<p><strong>Get the root of the problem</strong>: With in-depth research you can avoid similar disasters from reoccurring.</p>
<p><strong>Inform the media</strong>: By keeping the media informed your on top of the problem and all information is coming directly from the source.  Send out press releases frequently and post most recent developments on your blog and/or website.</p>

I have my experience in the south Florida Caribbean music scene but wanted to start venturing out into fashion. I was hoping you could offer some advice/suggestions. I&#8217;m having a difficult time going outside my circle of friends and finding prospective clients. How did you go about finding your initial clients when you first started? <p>Hi Farah,</p>
<p>Thanks for reaching out to me.  When seeking new clients you may want to start locally since your still trying to get your feet wet.  It&#8217;s really hard to find people randomly so you need to put yourself out there by networking!   Try attending events, seminars, mixers etc.  You should get some inexpensive business cards made with your company name (if you don&#8217;t have a company name that&#8217;s ok).  You may also want to create a new email account specifically for your freelance business in order to keep it as professional as possible.  Solicit friends and family to spread the word around.  This could really get you started in the right direction and help spread the word that your starting to do Fashion PR.     Try  joining online groups like Linked In, Meetup.com, Facebook and Twitter. By  connecting with industry professionals you will be surprised how large your circle will grow from there.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With the release of the fourth “Shrek” movie the anticipation begins to build to see these well known cartoon characters on the big screen again.  Voiced by A-List celebrities including Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Mike Meyers and Eddie Murphy this movie is definitely a favorite for the kiddies and the kiddies at heart.</p>
<p>However with a recent fashion spread featuring “Donkey” and other characters in the men’s magazine <em>VMan</em> some parents might not be so happy. DreamWorks gave <em>VMan </em>permission to use their characters in the fashion spread featured below, which according Fox411 they claim to be regretting.</p>
<p>In the spread Donkey is snug-a-bug next to a sultry lingerie model with an onlooker who happens to be a shirtless man.  Ideally this entire spread is not meant for a G-rated audience but with kids being so tech-savvy these days they might get a surprise when they do a search for “Shrek”.</p>
<p>Jo Piazza of Fox News.com interviewed New York Post film critic Kyle Smith.  Smith says &#8220;The photos are not only bizarre, but they also show a desperation by studios to toe the line for publicity&#8221;.</p>

<p>New companies are always looking for different ways to get their name out there.  Try reaching out to start-up companies  to donate towards your next gift bag.  It might be a good idea to offer a mention in the invitation or program as an exchange for their donation.  Do your research building a solid relationship with a new company could lead to future opportunities.  </p>
<p><strong>Tip 3: Think FUN!</strong></p>
<p>Reusable fun totes, fun decorative stuffing, you name it. Make sure that your items will appeal to your audience, just because it&#8217;s free doesn&#8217;t mean that it is right for your event. Ex. Massage Oil for a Baby Shower=No!</p>
